Your Wild and Precious Life--Part 3 of 3

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

(Mary Oliver)

(Continued from Part 2)

"I have dreams and goals, but I'm stuck! I don't know what to do to make those dreams come true."

Does that sound familiar?

What can you do to make your dreams come true?

1) Clarity as to what your dreams are. Be specific.

2) Take action each and every day to move you in the direction of your dreams.

3) Believe it is possible to achieve or have your dreams fulfilled.

4) Believe you are worthy of your dreams.

Clarity/Be Specific: Paint a picture with your words and put your dream on a 3x5 card, or make yourself a vision board or dream booklet with words and pictures/photos from magazines or drawings.

Take Action: Review your card, vision board or dream booklet several times each day.

Do you need to get a passport? Do you need to save money? Do you need to contact someone else? Do you need to research nursing schools? Is it time to contact the piano teacher to sign up for lessons? Decide how often you will publish your newsletter?

Believe in your dreams: Know that God would not give you a dream if it weren't possible to achieve it. Listen to your gut instinct, your intuition. This is your opportunity for growth, change, healing, and giving. Do not listen to the naysayers, including your negative thoughts.

Believe you are worthy: Know that God would not give YOU this dream, if it were meant for someone else. You might ask, "Why me?" The answer, "Why not you?"

A few other things you need to know about dreams.

*Try to be aware of your own negative or self put-down thoughts: "Who do you think you are?" "That's already been done." "You don't even have a degree." "You're too old." "You don't have the money for that."---Ask those thoughts to please be quiet. And tell them, "I'm not listening to you today." (They will be quiet for a few minutes, and then they will start up again. Just continue to ask them to be quiet.--They actually believe they are helping you.--At some point, they/your brain will catch on that it is learning something new--a new way of being.)

*If you share your dreams with family and friends, they may respond much the same as your own thoughts. They don't want you to get hurt or be disappointed if your dreams don't work out.

*People have a negative brain bias. Meaning, we learn more quickly when something bad or hurtful happens, so that we will not have that experience again. Negative brain bias comes from our caveman/woman ancestors. They had to be aware of a twig snapping. They were looking for dinner. They didn't want to be dinner. It was a matter of survival. So, our thoughts can tend to the "What if" scary or worry thoughts.

*Dreams take work on our part. There are no magic wands to make our dreams come true.

*Positive thinking does help us to keep moving in the direction of our dreams.

*Our own limiting beliefs can get in the way of us believing in or pursuing our dreams.

*Know that you are worthy of your dream. The real question is, Is your dream worthy of you?

What's stopping you from living your dreams?

What's blocking you from pursuing your dreams?

I encourage and support you in your stepping in to who you were created to be.

"As women,

We are wisdom keepers.

We are co-creators.

We are nurturers.

We are never too old, or too young.

To reinvent our lives!"
