What Are Your Dreams for Your Life?

When we are children, we have all kinds of dreams. We dream about going to Disneyland, going to a slumber party for the first time, being on the soccer team and scoring a goal, and what we will be when we grow up.
But then we grow up and life happens. We forget to dream and instead oftentimes choose what we, or others, think is a practical choice for our lives. And as time goes by, we think we're too old to have dreams. We become aware that we have more of our lives behind us than in front of us.
That happened to me. Several years ago, I asked my husband if he still had dreams for his life. He said no. I said I didn't either. And then I said, "I'm going to get some!" And I did.
I asked myself, if I could do or have anything, what would that be. My answer was to spend more time with family and friends, more time in nature, and I wanted to be a life coach. The life coach part sort of surprised me. I mean, at that point in time, I had been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 30+ years, and enjoyed the people and the work.
But I honored what my heart seemed to be saying, and began researching life coaching programs. And now here I am: a Certified Transformational Life Coach, and loving it! I'm also spending more time with family and friends, and more time in nature.
All of our dreams are not big or mega dreams; many of our dreams are little or micro dreams which often are stepping stones or building blocks for those big or mega dreams. We can't always tell what is connected and what isn't until time has passed, and we look backwards.
Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple, Inc., said, "We can only connect the dots looking backwards, so we have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in the future."
So, what are your dreams, whether they be mega or micro, for your life?
If you could truly live, what would you do with your life?
