Today Determines Tomorrow

John Wooden, nicknamed the "Wizard of Westwood," was an American basketball coach, and is believed to be one of the greatest coaches in history. He coached UCLA to multiple championships.

Today I watched one of his interviews in which he said he always told his players, not to be thinking about or worried about their history, where they came from, yesterday, or tomorrow. Their focus needed to be on today, because tomorrow is determined by what they do today.

I believe those are words of wisdom that we all can live by.

Pause for a moment, and ask yourself how much time you have spent worrying about tomorrow, or what has happened in your past, or what other people think of you, or your own critical thoughts about yourself. If you're honest, it's probably way too much time.

The reality is we can't change the past. It's in the past.

We don't have control over the future. It's in the future.

We also have no control over what other people say, think, or do. That is their responsibility.

We only have power for today, which includes our own thoughts and feelings about ourselves.

Try making a commitment to yourself that you will:

*Be kind to yourself today.

*Applaud your own efforts.

*Acknowledge your gifts, skills, and talents.

*Smile and Laugh.

*Give thanks for this day.

*Focus on today, and be and do you, because there's only one of you.

I am grateful for you.
