Those two little words, "I am" are very powerful! But we tend to say them willy-nilly without a thought of their power.
We say things like, I am tired. --I am exhausted.--I am poor.--I am anxious, scared, ugly, too skinny, too fat, too old, too young, not smart enough, not good enough, broken, damaged, sad, mad, depressed, sick, unlucky, powerless...................
Year ago, I was trying to decide what to watch on TV. I was flipping through the channels. I landed on PBS when the late Wayne Dyer, PhD, said, "I am well." Everyone in the audience was clapping loudly. I was thinking, "You look ill. I'm glad you are now well." I wanted to hear what he was going to say.
Dr Dyer said we need to be aware of how we use the words, "I am." He told the story of Moses and the burning bush, and Moses asking, "Who should I say sent me?" The reply was, "I am that I am."
Dr Dyer explained whenever we use the words, "I am," we are saying "God is."
That got me to thinking about how I use those two little words, "I am."
Then I thought of my high school French teacher explaining that in English we often say, "I'm done" or "I'm finished" after eating dinner, but if we say that in French, it means we are dead or dying. In French, we would say, "I have finished." Hmmmmm
I am stressed. vs I have a lot of stress. or I feel stressed.
I am sick. vs I have the flu. or I feel sick.
I am depressed. vs I feel depressed right now.
"I am" means you take that on as to who you are.
"I am Edie." I wouldn't say, "I have Edie." or "I feel Edie."
"I am a Transformational Life Coach."
I am powerful! I am rich in spirit. I am healthy. I am brave. I am enough!
So, the exercise or tool is to try to be aware of how you use those two powerful words, "I am."
If you change how you use those two words, you can change your life.
To Your Courageous Self!
