Do You Remember Who You Are?

Do you? Do you remember who you really are?

I love this quote from the book, Always Remember--The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, the Horse and the Storm by Charlie Mackesy:

"I know my mind can play tricks on me,

and tell me I'm no good,

that it's all hopeless.

But I need to remember

who I am; that I am loved,

I matter, and I bring to this world

things no one else can.

So I'll hold on."

(The Boy said the above quote)

There are times when each of us does remember. And there are times, perhaps because of our history or current circumstances, when we forget or when our mind "plays tricks" on us and we doubt our worth.

There's a program for children, I'm Thumbody Special, which teaches each child that she is special--there is no one else in the world just like her. Mr Rogers said words similar to that, and he also said, "I like you just the way you are."

So, if you are experiencing a time of doubt, or feeling hopeless, or think you are not worthy, or wondering what your purpose is, try to remember--remember who you really are: you are loved, you matter, you bring to this world things which no one else can, you make a difference, you are thumbody special.
